Here's how Middlesbrough's players rated in the 2-2 draw with Portsmouth:
5 Dieng: Bad mistake led to Portsmouth’s second goal and the goalkeeper didn’t look at all settled throughout first half. Didn’t have anything to do in the second.
6 Dijksteel: Couple of sloppy touches in the first half but solid and asked questions of Portsmouth’s defence in second.
7 Ayling: Showed his versatility by moving across to centre-half. Solid display.
6 Clarke: Involved in the mistake for the second goal but Dieng more at fault. Scored first equalising goal and, mistake aside, his usual self at the back.
5 Engel: Unconvincing display from the left-back. Several heavy touches and didn’t offer much going forward.
7 Hackney: Best display of the season so far for the Teessider. Was a driving force in midfield in the second half.
6 Morris: Solid if not spectacular. Sat deeper and allowed Hackney to push on. Went close to a goal early in second half.
6 Jones: Decision making and final ball let him down throughout but won last minute penalty.
7 Azaz: Assist for Boro’s goal and looked likeliest route to second equaliser. Created good chances for Latte Lath and Morris and it was a surprise that he was first to be withdrawn.
6 Burgzorg: Got himself in promising positions and was a goal threat but failed to take his chances.
6 Latte Lath: Missed a glorious chance late in first half. Frustrating afternoon for striker but never stopped running and trying to force equaliser.
Substitutes:
8 Conway (for Azaz, 70): Made a huge impact from the bench. Involved in move that led to Hackney chance, dragged shot just wide then scored equaliser from spot.
Barlaser (for Morris, 81): N/A
Hamilton (for Engel, 81) NA
Subs not used: Brynn, Gilbert, Coburn, McCormick, Conway, Hunt, Finch
PORTSMOUTH: Norris 8, Swanson 7, Williams 7, Towler 7, Ogilvie 7, Pack 7, Dozzell 7 (Moxon, 81), Lane 7 (Devlin 65), Lang 7 (Ritchie, 81), Saydee 7 (Yengi, 65), Sorensen 7 (Blair, 53)
Subs not used: Archer, Stevenson, Clout, Kamara.
Man of the Match: Norris. Frustrated Boro’s fans with time-wasting but also frustrated Boro’s attackers with a string of excellent saves.
