MIDDLESBROUGH are closing in on the signing of left-back Neto Borges from Clermont.
The deal isn't done yet but talks are progressing well and Boro are confident the Brazilian will become the sixth senior signing of the summer.
Borges is out of contract next year and Boro made their move for the 27-year-old, who was a target last summer, after Clermont's relegation from Ligue 1 last season.
Providing there are no hitches, Borges will sign a permanent deal at Boro.

Signing a left-back has been a priority for Boro since Alex Bangura suffered a serious Achilles injury in pre-season.
Ryan Giles' situation at Hull City has been monitored throughout the summer but Boro moved on to other targets a number of weeks ago. And when they learnt that Borges, a long term target, was potentially available, they made their move.
Talks have taken place over recent weeks and Boro are now closing in on the capture of the former Genk and Hammarby man.
Borges has made more than 60 appearances for Clermont since joining the French club two years ago.
