KIERAN TRIPPIER is on the substitutes' bench as Newcastle United kick off the new Premier League season at home to Southampton this afternoon.
Eddie Howe has opted to leave Trippier out of his starting XI, with the England international having been linked with a possible move away from Tyneside this summer.
Tino Livramento will start at right-back, with Lewis Hall getting the nod to start on the opposite side of the back four.
Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sean Longstaff will play in the central area for the Magpies, with Jacob Murphy selected on the right-hand side ahead of Miguel Almiron.
Anthony Gordon starts on the left flank, with Alexander Isak selected as the central attacker.
Newcastle have named two of their summer signings on the substitutes' bench - Lloyd Kelly, who joined from Bournemouth, and William Osula, who left Sheffield United to join the Magpies.
