REGIS Le Bris has challenged Abdoullah Ba and Romaine Mundle to add consistency to their game as the wingers set about the tough task of putting pressure on first choice wide duo Patrick Roberts and Jack Clarke.

Mundle caught the eye in the summer friendly defeat to Bradford and showed flashes of his quality in this week's Carabao Cup loss at Preston, while Ba has offered glimpses of his quality during his time at the Stadium of Light but hasn't yet been able to put it together consistently and become a first team regular.

The pair - Mundle in particular - face a daunting challenge when it comes to forcing their way into Le Bris' first choice side, with star man Clarke one of the first names on the teamsheet and Roberts also impressing Le Bris since the head coach's arrival.

Premier League clubs continue to monitor Clarke's situation but Le Bris is hoping Sunderland keep their star man beyond this month's summer transfer deadline, while Roberts is looking to get back to his best this term after a frustrating season last time out.

That could mean game-time - or certainly starts - are hard to come by for Mundle and Ba, but Le Bris says the pair have the talent to shine.

He said: "For them, the consistency and the ability to create danger. I think they have a specific talent to create unbalance, but they are still young in their game.

"The next step is the efficiency, the capacity to deliver key passes, to score, to cross and so on. At the moment, they need to reach this step to be more involved in the first team, I think."
