MICHAEL CARRICK has made seven changes to his Middlesbrough side for this evening's Carabao Cup first-round game against Leeds United.

Matt Clarke, Lukas Engel, Aidan Morris and Isaiah Jones are the only players to retain their place from the Boro side that lined up against Swansea City at the weekend.

Sol Brynn gets the nod to start in goal, with Seny Dieng rested and Tom Glover on the bench.

Luke Ayling is only on the bench as he returns to Elland Road following his exit from Leeds, with Anfernee Dijksteel set to line up at right-back. Skipper Jonny Howson returns to the starting side, and is expected to partner Clarke at centre-half.

Dan Barlaser will play alongside Morris at the heart of midfield, with Delano Burgzorg making his first competitive Boro start on the left.

Alex Gilbert is expected to play in the number ten role, with Josh Coburn leading the line despite this week's transfer speculation linking him with Millwall and Stoke City.

New signing Micah Hamilton is named on the substitutes' bench, alongside youngsters Fin Cartwright and Harley Hunt.
