Sunderland are in Carabao Cup action when they take on Preston on Tuesday.

Here are all the details you need to know about the game…

WHERE IS THE GAME TAKING PLACE?

Having kicked off the new Championship season with an impressive away win at Cardiff at the weekend, Sunderland are back on their travels as they head to Deepdale to take on Preston in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Sunderland have a mixed recent record at Deepdale, with their last three games at the ground having resulted in a win, a draw and a defeat.

Two seasons ago, the Black Cats won at Deepdale on the final day of the campaign to secure their place in the play-offs. Things did not go so well last term, though, with Preston claiming a 2-1 win in the opening month of the season.

Sunderland’s last League Cup meeting with Preston came in 1995, and saw the Black Cats follow up a 1-1 draw in the North-West with a 3-2 win on Wearside courtesy of two goals from Lee Howey and an own goal from Ryan Kidd.

WHAT TIME IS KICK-OFF?

Tuesday’s game kicks off at 7.30pm.

ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?

No – Sunderland received an allocation of 3,000 tickets for the away section at Deepdale, but they are no longer available for the game.

IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?

Yes – Sunderland’s game at Preston is being televised live on Sky Sports via the Sky Sports + feature.

With the game being televised live, there is no streaming option available for supporters.

Radio commentary for the match will be available on BBC Radio Newcastle, and The Northern Echo’s Dominic Shaw will be at Deepdale providing live coverage of the game on The Northern Echo website as well as a report, reaction, ratings and post-match analysis.

WHAT IS SUNDERLAND’S LIKELY LINE-UP?

Regis Le Bris will be making wholesale changes for Sunderland’s introduction into the Carabao Cup, with the Black Cats line-up likely to be similar to the side that played against Bradford in the penultimate pre-season friendly.

Simon Moore will start in goal, with Abdoullah Ba, Romaine Mundle, Adil Aouchiche and Nazariy Rusyn also expected to start.

While Le Bris had suggested that Luis Hemir, Jewison Bennette and Joe Anderson would all be leaving ahead of the closing of the transfer window, all three are likely to be play some part in Tuesday’s game.

Pierre Ekwah should also feature, despite Le Bris also admitting he was unable to offer the French midfielder any guarantees about his own long-term future.

Sunderland (possible, 4-2-3-1): Moore; Hjelde, Triantis, Anderson, Johnson; Rigg, Ekwah; Ba, Aouchiche, Mundle; Rusyn.

HOW ARE PRESTON SHAPING UP?

Badly. Preston’s preparations for Tuesday’s game were thrown into chaos when their manager, Ryan Lowe, left his position after just one game of the season.

Lowe presided over Friday’s opening-weekend defeat to Sheffield United, but then left his post by mutual consent after a meeting with the Preston hierarchy at the weekend.

Mike Marsh, Peter Murphy and Ched Evans have been placed in temporary charge of the Lilywhites for the game against Sunderland, and it remains to be seen whether they opt to make major changes from Friday’s line-up.

Former Sunderland youngster Sam Greenwood started for Preston against Sheffield United, having moved to Deepdale from Leeds United in the summer.

Preston (possible, 3-4-3): Woodman; Whatmough, Lindsay, Hughes; Potts, Whiteman, Thordarson, Brady; Greenwood, Riis, Keane.
