Former Sunderland footballer, Jill Scott, delighted participants at the Beacon of Light's holiday courses with a surprise visit.
The Euro 2022 winner spent time with schoolchildren at the Sunderland site before stopping for coffee at Yard Nine café.
Scott, who joined the Foundation of Light board of trustees in March, made her start in the football business through work experience as a coach at Sunderland's training ground aged 17.
Later in the day Scott interacted with Parkinson's Walking Football session attendees, hearing about their efforts to stay active while battling neurological conditions.

Foundation of Light's CEO, Lesley Spuhler, commented on the visit, stating: "It was a pleasure to see Jill at the Beacon and engaging with children at our holiday courses."
She praised Scott for her achievements both on and off the field, and her ability to inspire others in the region through her enthusiasm and kindness.
She said: "We are lucky to have her support as a Foundation of Light trustee and we look forward to welcoming her back soon."
The summer courses offered by the Foundation of Light aim to keep children active and continue building their skills during the school holidays.
