SOL Brynn will be staying at Middlesbrough this season and competing for the gloves, Michael Carrick has confirmed.
Zach Hemming this week linked up with Leyton Orient on a season-long loan but there'll be no temporary switch for Brynn, with the Teessider instead set to stay with his hometown club for the coming campaign.
Carrick's plan will delight the 23-year-old, who told the Northern Echo earlier this summer: "My aspiration is to play for Boro, that's what I want."
Brynn hasn't yet played in pre-season because of a slight foot niggle but was on the bench for Wednesday night's win at Gateshead. He isn't expected to feature Doncaster on Saturday but will play at Harrogate next Wednesday night.
Hemming's loan exit this week leaves Carrick with three senior keepers after Jamie Jones decided against signing a contract extension last week and instead joined Salford City.
Jones was Boro's designated third choice, a role that wouldn't suit any of the senior keepers remaining on the books.

Seny Dieng is expected to be No.1 again this season and Boro's confirmed Brynn decision raises fresh questions about the future of Tom Glover, who was linked with a move away at the end of last season. But Carrick says he's "really happy" with the trio.
Glover, who played the full 90 minutes at Gateshead, is an Australian international, who would be unlikely to settle for being third choice, but Boro are unlikely to allocate that role to Brynn and risk slowing his progression after a string of impressive loan moves.
Carrick said last week that Jones' exit "doesn't change" Boro's transfer plans so it will be interesting to see how the situation plays out in the coming weeks.
"Sol is sticking about," Carrick confirmed after the Gateshead win.
"He'll play next Wednesday.
"We have three really good goalkeepers. We have Seny, who has played a lot of games; Tom has had really good experience and played a number of games last season, we know what Tom can do. And Sol had a terrific season last season and it's the right time for him to come back and train with us and push to play. I'm really happy with the three we've got."
Brynn spent last season on loan at Leyton Orient in League One, which followed a successful spell at Swindon at League Two the year prior.
