LIAM Roberts got the green light from ex-Middlesbrough teammate Duncan Watmore before completing his move to Millwall.
The goalkeeper - a free agent after leaving Boro at the end of last season - has signed a one-year deal with the Lions and will compete for the gloves with Lukas Jensen, who joined from Lincoln.
Roberts spent last season on loan at Barnsley in League One before his two-year stay with Boro came to an end.
And he's delighted to have now linked up with the Lions.
"I think it's the right move for me because it's such a massive club," said Roberts, who has flown out to Spain to join the Millwall squad in their pre-season training camp.
"I spoke to Duncan Watmore before coming in and he said, 'You'll love it. As soon as you walk through the door you'll get that feeling of family and that feeling of the lads wanting it together.'
"He wasn't wrong at all."

Matija Sarkic, who was Millwall's number one last season, tragically passed away earlier this summer. The club have now announced they're retiring their number 20 shirt in remembrance and the club and supporters will pay tribute in the first game of the season against Watford.
Roberts played just five times for Boro after joining from Northampton in the summer of 2022, when Chris Wilder was in charge.
His exit was expected this summer, with Boro extremely well stocked between the posts.
Michael Carrick has Seny Dieng, Tom Glover, Sol Brynn and Zach Hemming battling for the gloves. Jamie Jones, who would have been third choice this coming season, opted to join Salford last week rather than sign a new deal at the Riverside. That came as a surprise but Carrick said it doesn't change Boro's transfer plans.
