FORMER Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has made a surprise return to England, joining Championship side Watford.
Sissoko, who made 133 senior appearances for the Magpies during a three-and-a-half year spell on Tyneside, has moved to Vicarage Road on a two-year contract.
The 34-year-old former France international joins on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Ligue 1 side Nantes.
Sissoko reunites with his former team-mate and now manager Tom Cleverley, having played for the Hornets in their 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

“It’s a statement signing,” Cleverley told watfordfc.com. “I think it shows you the ambition that myself and the club have got moving forward.
"He brings a real powerhouse to the middle of the pitch - he’s a consistent performer.”
