JOHN Swift was discussed by Middlesbrough's recruitment team at the end of last season but as things stand there's no plan to pursue a move for the West Brom star.
It's understood Boro did assess the merits of bringing the 29-year-old to the Riverside but have moved on as things currently stand.
It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Boro will reassess and revisit the Swift situation before the summer is out, but the coaching and recruitment team are currently happy with their attacking midfield options.
Former Chelsea youngster and England youth international Swift currently has one year to run on his contract at the Hawthorns, with Albion said to be open to offers.

Swift joined West Brom two summers ago and has been influential for Carlos Corberan's side, making 37 appearances and scoring nine goals last season.
Boro have made a fast start to the summer window, with Luke Ayling, Delano Burgzorg, Aidan Morris and youngster Harley Hunt already through the door at the Riverside.
Boro are keen on further strengthening their squad but it's quiet at the minute, with the Championship promotion hopefuls seeing how the market plays out and patiently assessing their options.
A striker is wanted before the window closes, while Hull City's owner Acun Ilicali today admitted he wouldn't stand in the way of Ryan Giles returning to Teesside if a deal can be struck between the clubs.
