The country's first fixture against Serbia takes place on Sunday.

The team, managed by Gareth Southgate, was the runner-up in the previous tournament in 2021 igniting hopes for a stronger performance this round.

Reader Bob Marly said: "Hope we can go all the way and win it".

Sue Dower suggested: "Draw moustaches on the Lionesses and send them on, the best way to get results."

Some remain sceptical about England's prospects.

Dave Walbey expressed caution, he said: "Be lucky if they get through the first stage".

Echoing this sentiment was David W Dye, who said: "Obviously to win, but sadly, I feel we have little hope following the last friendly performance."

Confidence in Southgate's management was also questioned, with Rocketman Fiveseven lamenting "We're useless and Southgate is too timid managerially."

Contrasting views on the performance of the team were seen, with James Stothard wishing for an early exit to spare the nation from "torture".

While others like Gerry Gibson have high hopes and are rooting for the team to "Win the tournament".

Some readers made it clear that football no longer holds their interest.

According to Dennis Welch, who said: "Having watched and played the game over the last 50 years football is no longer worth watching."
