FORMER SUNDERLAND head coach candidate Pascal Jansen has got a new job after taking charge of Hungarian champions Ferencvaros.

The former AZ boss emerged as a leading contender to take over at the Stadium of Light last week before club sources indicated over the weekend that the 51-year-old was no longer in the running for the Sunderland vacancy.

His next move has been swiftly confirmed, with Jansen signing a two-year deal at Ferencvaros, who won the Hungarian top flight title last season.

Jansen is understood to have held talks with the Black Cats before he was ruled out of contention over the weekend.

Sunderland also held lengthy talks with Liam Rosenior, before the latest head coach twist on Wednesday when it emerged the former Hull boss is now extremely unlikely to take charge on Wearside.

Rosenior is said to be keen to hold out for the Burnley job with the 39-year-old featuring on the shortlist to replace Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor.

Interestingly, the odds on Scott Parker taking charge of the Clarets have tumbled today, with the former Bournemouth boss now odds-on favourite for the role.

Marti Cifuentes is the current pick of the bookies for the Sunderland job but there's no clear frontrunner to replace Michael Beale as things stand. For all Cifuentes is admired by Sunderland bosses, he's in work at QPR so any effort to lure the Spaniard to the Stadium of Light could be costly and drawn-out.

Sunderland chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus last week said he hoped an appointment was "imminent".
