HULL CITY have named Tim Walter as Liam Rosenior’s successor as head coach on a three-year deal.
The Tigers surprisingly sacked Championship manager of the season nominee Rosenior after just missing out on the play-offs.
Walter was immediately linked with the vacancy and Hull have now confirmed the 48-year-old former Hamburg manager’s appointment, subject to the German coach obtaining a visa.

Hull chairman Acun Ilicali said: “Tim was always our first choice. We had many strong applicants and wanted to be thorough in our recruitment process, but it quickly became clear that Tim was the outstanding candidate.
“Our discussions were detailed and productive in planning for this season and I am encouraged about how we can work together to the benefit of our club.
“I believe in Tim’s philosophy and, in doing so, I am hopeful that over the forthcoming season he can continue our positive progress and upward trajectory.”
Walter's appointment means Sunderland are now one of two Championship clubs on the lookout for a new boss.
Plymouth appointed Wayne Rooney this week and Johannes Hoff Thorup took charge at Norwich. Sunderland's search for a new head coach continues, while Burnley are also in the market for a new boss after Vincent Kompany left for Bayern Munich.
