THERE'LL be a new 'singing section' at the Riverside Stadium next season, with the energetic Red Faction being relocated into a more central position in the South Stand.

Red Faction have helped to transform the atmosphere at the Riverside in the past 15 years and Boro say they recognise the group's role in "making the South Stand one of the most active - visually and vocally - and desirable locations for fans".

Previously, the group have been situated to the left and midway up the stand but, following lengthy discussions, Red Faction's core membership will be moved more centrally and to a lower tier behind the goal, in blocks 59 and 61.

The intention, say Boro, is to "create a more unified South Stand atmosphere".

Michael Carrick and his players have talked at length about the importance of the Riverside crowd and Boro say they are "committed to facilitating a dedicated area where some of our most vocal supporters can thrive".

The change - a decision Boro say has not been taken lightly - does mean a "small number" of season ticket holders will have to move.

Boro said: "The club have worked to ensure that this number is as small as possible, and contacted those affected individually to discuss and offer the best available alternatives."

Boro added: "We hope that this new position as a focal point of the new singing section will benefit that atmosphere in what promises to be an exciting new season. Supporters should note that the singing section will include drumming and flag waving, along with occasional fan-led displays."
