Sunderland have booked their place in the final with victories over Wolves and West Ham before the dramatic win at Reading, where Ellis Taylor scored a hat-trick before Trey Ogunsuyi hit the winner in the last minute of extra-time.
Tottenham secured their spot in the final thanks to a 4-3 win after extra time against Chelsea at the weekend.
Boss Murty said of Sunderland's youngsters: "Nobody at the start of the season could have foreseen this outcome, but they like proving people wrong and challenges. They seem to like making it really hard for themselves but I can't do anything other than praise their spirit.
"No matter what happens in the final. I'll be immensely proud."
