SUNDERLAND are set to get to work on the construction of their new stadium store, which they say will be open in time for the start of next season.

It comes on the back of last week's link-up with Fanatics, who are taking over the club's retail operation both in-person and online.

The new store, which will be located at Black Cat House, will result in the closure of the existing ticket office, with Sunderland instead planning to install new ticketing points in the North East corner later this summer.

With work getting underway on the store and ticketing points this month, a temporary store and ticket office will be situated in the current stadium store, which will open tomorrow.

Sunderland say this summer's construction work means some of the personalised bricks located on panel eight in the East Stand will have to be displaced.

A statement said: We understand the emotional and personal significance of these bricks and we will be engaging closely with the supporters impacted to discuss next steps, as we plan to relocate the displaced bricks to a new location.

"Although we have up-to-date contact details for many of the fans affected, the bricks on panel eight were installed more than 25 years ago. If you believe you or someone you know will be impacted by the changes above, we ask that you please reach out to us as soon as possible.

"To get in touch, please email panel8@safc.com and a member of our team will ensure you are supported throughout this process, which we will endeavour to handle with care and consideration."

Sunderland also say a bespoke online customer service platform, which will provide fans with instant support, will be introduced during the off-season.
