HEATON STANNINGTON have won promotion to NPL East after beating West Auckland 3-0 in this afternoon’s Northern League Division One play-off final.
A bumper crowd of 2,107 watched the Tyneside club secure a place at step four of the non-league pyramid for the first time in their history.
After a tight first half, Heaton Stannington broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half through Konner Lamb.
Andrew Burn added a second goal for the home side shortly before the hour mark, with Louis Anderson making it 3-0 with five minutes remaining.
Heaton Stannington will join Northern League champions Bishop Auckland in NPL East next season, along with fellow North-East sides Consett, Newton Aycliffe, Dunston and Ashington.
