NEWCASTLE UNITED might have produced a sensational comeback to claim all three points against West Ham this afternoon – but their victory came at a cost as three players sustained injuries that could impact their involvement against Everton on Tuesday night.

Jamaal Lascelles was forced off in the opening 20 minutes after appearing to twist his knee as he fell awkwardly in his own penalty area. The Magpies skipper tried to continue after treatment, but was quickly forced to admit defeat and hobble off.

Tino Livramento was also substituted after suffering an ankle injury in the second half, while Miguel Almiron lasted just 11 minutes as a second-half substitute before he was also forced to head off the pitch after damaging his knee.

“Jamaal’s is a knee problem, but I don’t know any more than that at the moment,” confirmed Eddie Howe, who will also be without Anthony Gordon for Tuesday's visit of Everton after the winger picked up a second yellow card in the closing stages of today's game for kicking the ball away.

"With Tino, I think the ball hit his ankle, so it was an ankle twist. Miggy hurt his knee crossing a ball, but again, I don’t know the details.”

With so many things going against them, it would have been easy for Newcastle’s players to have allowed their heads to drop when West Ham claimed a 3-1 lead at the start of the second half.

Instead, they rallied superbly to come from behind to claim a victory for the first time this season, with Alexander Isak successfully converting his second penalty of the game before substitute Harvey Barnes settled things with two excellent finishes.

“I hope this gives us renewed confidence and hope, and a real positive lift,” said Howe. “I don’t like to think back too much, but at that moment when we’re 3-1 down, that would have been a difficult afternoon to take, especially when we have the ten games that we’ve talked about internally in terms of wanting to do well in those matches.

“We feel we still have an opportunity to make something of our season. It would have been difficult to do that from that position, so hopefully it gives everybody a lift, not just us, but externally as well. I thought the crowd were magnificent for us at 3-1. They stayed with us, and I think they carried us over the line at the end.”
