EDDIE HOWE is confident Tino Livramento’s ankle injury is not too serious – and expects the full-back to be available for the end of the international break.
Livramento was not involved in Newcastle United’s FA Cup defeat at Manchester City after suffering an ankle injury during Monday’s Premier League defeat at Stamford Bridge.
He was unable to train in the build-up to today’s game, but Howe is hoping he will not be sidelined for too long.
“It was a twist of the ankle against Chelsea,” said Howe. “We probably knew on the day after the game that he wasn’t going to make this weekend. I don’t think it’s serious, and we hope he’ll be back for the next match (against West Ham).”
While Newcastle’s international players will now head off to join up with their respective national sides, the club’s non-internationals are jetting off to Dubai for some warm-weather training.

“As always, there’ll be a period of relaxation for the players after what has been a very busy period,” said Howe. “We’ve got some injuries to try to get players fit for our next game.
“Then there’ll be a period of work where we’ll analyse today’s game and then pick the pieces up and work. I don’t know at the moment what that will be, but of course looking ahead to our next opponent, we’ll get some good work in. We’ll get some fitness work in and we’ll come back stronger for it.”
