MIDDLESBROUGH (3-4-3):

6 Dieng: Will have enjoyed his return to Loftus Road – made a good first-half save from Willock

7 McNair: Helped keep the QPR attack quiet as he swept up effectively and made some important blocks

9: Van den Berg: Absolutely superb at the heart of the five-man defence – always in the right place and composed throughout

7 Clarke: Had a couple of shaky moments in the first half, but improved as the game wore on and blocked a couple of shots

7 Ayling: Enjoyed his second-half running battle with Clarke-Salter, and kept his head to deliver an effective display

8 Howson: Was a massive factor in Boro’s success at the heart of midfield – won tackles and helped set up the second goal

7 O’Brien: Used the ball effectively whenever he had it and covered a lot of ground as Boro edged the midfield battle

6 Engel: Got forward to good effect down the left-hand side and shut off QPR’s supply line down their right

7 Forss: Carried a threat on the break and produced an excellent looped header to beat Begovic and double Boro’s lead

7 Latte Lath: Asked questions of the QPR defence throughout and opened the scoring with a composed volleyed finish

6 McGree: An energetic display from the Australian, who came close with a couple of decent efforts at goal

Man Of The Match: RAV VAN DEN BERG – The Boro defender is developing into quite some player given that he does not turn 20 until July.
