How did the players fare in Newcastle United's 3-0 win over Wolves?
NEWCASTLE (4-3-3):
7 Dubravka: Made two important second-half saves when Wolves were threatening to get back into the game
6 Trippier: Kept his attacking breaks to a minimum, but was rock solid defensively before an injury forced him off early in the second half
8 SCHAR: Was impeccable defensively, and helped set up all three of Newcastle’s goals with passes out of defence
7 Botman: Much improved as he returned to the heart of the back four following his midweek rest
7 Burn: Kept the dangerous Neto quiet in the first half and continued to impress in the second – much more like it
6 Longstaff: Didn’t always make the right decision with the ball at his best, but kept on trying to drive forward
7 Guimaraes: Ran the midfield for a lot of the game, and tended to use the ball effectively when he had it
8 Willock: His energy and movement made a big difference to the Magpies midfield – has been badly missed during his absence
7 Murphy: One of his better performances – was a threat down the right and delivered the cross for the second goal
6 Isak: Took his goal neatly and put in a decent shift, but was running on empty by the time he was replaced in the second half
8 Gordon: Was Newcastle’s brightest attacker for most of the afternoon – added to his goals tally in the first half
Subs:
7 Livramento (for Trippier, 52): Did excellently down the right and thoroughly deserved his late goal
6 Barnes (for Isak, 69): Made a couple of dangerous breaks into the left of the box
6 Almiron (for Murphy, 69): Came close with a shot that was saved by Bentley at his near post
5 Miley (for Willock, 69): Slotted in to the heart of midfield in the closing stages
Anderson (for Gordon, 90)
(not used): Karius (gk), Krafth, Hall, Lascelles.
WOLVES (3-4-3):
Sa 4 (Bentley 46, 5); Kilman 4, Dawson 4, Toti 5 (H Bueno 59, 4); Semedo 5, M Lemina 6 (Traore 81), DOYLE 6, Ait-Nouri 5; Sarabia 5, Neto 5 (Fraser 46, 5), Bellegarde 4 (Chirewa 81).
Subs (not used): Doherty, S Bueno, N Lemina, Okoduwa.
Man Of The Match: FABIAN SCHAR - Was excellent defensively, and was involved in all three of Newcastle's goals courtesy of his distribution from the back.
