EDDIE HOWE is hoping Harvey Barnes will be back in the Newcastle United squad for Saturday’s home game with Luton.
Barnes has been sidelined since suffering a foot injury in September’s thrashing of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, but has stepped up his training in the last few days.
It is hoped he will be able to join in full sessions for the remainder of the week, which should enable him to rejoin the squad to face Luton at St James’ Park at the weekend.

Callum Wilson could also find himself back in contention for Saturday’s game, although the England international is yet to join in contact training with the rest of the first-team squad.
Howe said: “There are players close. They’re getting there. Harvey Barnes would probably be the closest.
“I think Callum has been doing well, but we haven’t seen him in training yet. The others are a bit behind them.”
Alexander Isak suffered a groin injury in last night’s 3-1 win at Aston Villa, limping out of the action shortly before half-time.
The Swede did not feel able to continue at Villa Park, but Howe is hoping the injury is not too serious.
He said: “I’d like to say it was my decision to make the change, but it was Alex’s decision, he said he had to come off.
“We’re hopeful it’s not a serious injury. It doesn’t look too bad, but it’s very early to say that. We need a proper diagnosis, and then assess where we are.”
