SUNDERLAND are closing in on a deal for Standard Liege youngster Romaine Mundle.
Having kicked off their January transfer business with the signing of Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde earlier today, the Black Cats are confident of also adding Mundle to their ranks ahead of Thursday night's deadline.
A 20-year-old winger, who can play on either flank, London-born Mundle began his career in the youth ranks at Tottenham.

He was a regular for Spurs' Under-21 side in Premier League 2 in the 2022-23 season, scoring seven goals and claiming four assists, and while he did not make a senior appearance the North London club, he was named in a squad for a Europa League game.
He left Tottenham to join Standard Liege last summer, signing a four-year contract with the Belgian top-flight side, but has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular in the first half of the current campaign.
All six of his senior appearances for Liege came off the substitutes' bench, but having been given the green light to return to England, he was linked with both Swansea City and Stoke City earlier in the transfer window.
He is not set to join Sunderland though, with the Black Cats' recruitment team having agreed the framework of a deal for his permanent transfer.
There are still a couple of details to finalise, but provided there are no unforeseen issues, the youngster should travel to Wearside in the next 24 hours to undergo a medical and complete his transfer.
