THE funeral of a 'much-loved' Tynedale rugby player will take place this week.
Rory Cramb, who died on December 24, after spending several days in intensive care following a fall, will be laid to rest at 1.30pm on Friday, January 12 at St Mary's and St Stephen's Church in Wolsingham.
There will be a church service followed by a gathering in the neighbouring village hall.A private burial will also be taking place with family and close friends, only after the church service.
The youngster had been featured in a team for his side, the Tynedale Rugby Club, just a week prior on December 16.
The club quickly posted on social media when they heard about the death and said his family’s world had been turned upside down.
It said: “We are extremely saddened to announce the tragic death of Rory Cramb, a much-loved player, member, and friend of the Tynedale Rugby Club family.
“A very popular young man, Rory developed as a talented centre through the junior section at Tynedale and frequently represented the club at both 1st XV and Raiders level.
“His last game was against Billingham on the 16th of December where he was prominent in a fine win.
“Our hearts, minds and prayers go out to Suzy, Richard and all of Rory’s family and friends whose worlds have been turned upside down by their loss.”
Following his death, Tynedale Rugby Football Club has been able to postpone their future matches on Saturday (January 13) where they were going up against Wharfedale RUFC.
Also the Club have decided to retire the No13 shirt for season in Rory's memory.
Another post was also published earlier this week by the club stating that if any member wished to attend the funeral, to contact chief executive Harry Conforth on to keep the family up to speed on numbers from the club that would be attending.
The post also added: "Our thanks go to Wharfedale RUFC and National League Rugby for their understanding in allowing us to postpone our fixtures on Saturday. The gesture is really appreciated by the players and officials of the club."
