The first Wear-Tyne derby for almost eight years takes place on Saturday, with Sunderland taking on Newcastle United in the third round of the FA Cup.

Here are all the details you need to know about the game…

WHERE IS THE GAME TAKING PLACE?

Sunderland have home advantage for Saturday’s derby, with the game taking place at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats have an excellent recent derby record as they have not lost any of their last nine matches against Newcastle. Indeed, the last three derby meetings at the Stadium of Light have also ended in a Sunderland win.

This will be the eighth meeting between the sides in the FA Cup, with the most recent fixture having come in the 1955-56 season when Sunderland ran out 2-0 winners. Newcastle’s last FA Cup victory over Sunderland came back in the 1908-09 campaign, when they triumphed 3-0.

WHAT TIME IS KICK-OFF?

Saturday’s game is an early-afternoon encounter, kicking off at 12.45pm.

ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?

No – Unsurprisingly, the game is completely sold out.

All home tickets have been sold to Sunderland fans, while Newcastle United will have a full allocation of 6,000 travelling supporters cheering them on in the North Stand at the Stadium of Light.

IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?

Yes – Saturday’s game has been selected for live television coverage and is being screened on ITV1 and ITVX.

With the game being broadcast live on terrestrial TV, there is no domestic streaming available.

Radio coverage of Saturday’s game will be available on BBC Radio Five Live and BBC Radio Newcastle. The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson will be at the Stadium of Light producing a live blog, report, ratings, reaction and analysis on The Northern Echo’s website.

WHAT IS SUNDERLAND’S LIKELY LINE-UP?

Patrick Roberts is Sunderland’s major injury doubt, with the winger still struggling with the calf injury that forced him off in the early stages of the 1-1 draw at Rotherham United last Friday. Roberts is regarded as an unlikely participant at the weekend.

Dennis Cirkin (hamstring) and Bradley Dack (hamstring) are both set to be sidelined for around a month, but Jay Matete is available again after playing for the Under-21s over the festive period.

Aji Alese made his first start of the season against Preston on New Year’s Day, and is set to retain his place at left-back provided there are no ill effects from his outing on Monday.

Nazariy Rusyn scored his first goal in a Sunderland shirt as Preston were beaten 2-0, and is expected to lead the line again against Newcastle.

Sunderland (probable, 4-2-3-1): Patterson; Hume, O’Nien, Ballard, Alese; Neil, Ekwah; Bellingham, Pritchard, Clarke; Rusyn.

WHAT IS NEWCASTLE’S LIKELY LINE-UP?

Kieran Trippier missed Newcastle’s New Year’s Day defeat at Liverpool with a groin injury, but the full-back could be available to face Sunderland.

Callum Wilson (hamstring) was also absent at Anfield, but whereas Trippier has a chance of making Saturday’s FA Cup tie, his England colleague is expected to miss out.

Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson and Joe Willock all remain on the long-term absentee list, and are not expected to feature at the Stadium of Light.

Miguel Almiron was a substitute against Liverpool, but the Paraguayan could return to the starting side on Wearside.

Newcastle (probable, 4-3-3): Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
