Here's how Newcastle's players rated in the 4-2 defeat at Liverpool:
8 Dubravka: Kept the score down with string of excellent saves. Denied Nunez repeatedly and saved Salah penalty. Rarely will a keeper play so well and concede four goals.
5 Livramento: Was pinned back by the excellent Diaz, who was the game's stand-out player.
6 Schar: Good block to deny Jones in first half. Wasn’t helped by anonymous midfield in front.
4 Botman: Never settled and looked uncomfortable throughout. Good header late on to give Newcastle hope.
5 Burn: Did as well as he could against Salah in first half. Liverpool had a lot of joy down the right in the second half.
4 Bruno: Booked in the first half and just couldn’t get a grip as Liverpool attacked in waves. Newcastle's glaring midfield issue was again exposed.
5 Longstaff: Chasing shadows for the most part. Difficult night.
6 Miley: The most testing of first halves chasing Liverpool at 100mph. Had rare Newcastle chance and got into some good area. Booked.
5 Joelinton: Struggled to get into the game and looked a yard off the pace at times. Booked and withdrawn late on.
6 Gordon: Anonymous in the first half and looked shattered. Came to life after being moved to the left. Excellent pass for the goal.
6 Isak: Starved of service for the most part but was a threat on the counter and took his goal well. Strayed narrowly offside to deny Burn goal.
