5 Glover: Didn’t have a save to make but was then caught out by freak winner.

6 Dijksteel: Hardly troubled defensively. Although goal came down his side, it was Jones who didn’t track run of Bramall.

7 Fry: Won the battle against Hugill and Rotherham failed to create a clear cut chance. Looked like he was fouled in build-up to goal.

7 Clarke: Like Fry, really solid and did his job. Deserved clean sheet.

8 Bangura: Got forward and either started or joined in with the attack at every opportunity. Boro’s best player. Denied a stonewall second half penalty.

7 Howson: Was the driving force particularly in the second half as Boro pushed for goal, before and after Rotherham’s opener.

7 Barlaser: Really good in the first half. Started move for early Jones chance with brilliant through-ball.

5 Jones: Decision making and final ball let him down. Didn’t track Bramall for winning goal.

6 Rogers: Best of Boro’s attacking four but struggled to hit the heights of West Brom display. Found space for himself but couldn’t pick the lock.

5 Greenwood: Had three good chances, the best of which came in the second half before he was replaced soon after.

5 Silvera: Not as effective in central role as he was against West Brom. Couple of flashes and surges.
