NEWCASTLE UNITED cannot recall Yankuba Minteh from his loan at Feyenoord during next month’s transfer window.
The Magpies signed Minteh in a £7m transfer from Danish club Odense Boldklub in the summer, but immediately sent the 19-year-old striker to the Dutch Eredivisie on a temporary deal.
Minteh has impressed during his time in the Netherlands, scoring four goals in 16 games, and was on target in the Champions League on Wednesday night, scoring at Celtic as Feyenoord suffered a 2-1 defeat.
It had previously been suggested that Newcastle could look to recall Minteh to Tyneside when the transfer window reopens next month, but Howe has revealed that is not an option.
Minteh’s loan agreement does not contain an automatic recall clause, meaning the Magpies are unable to automatically bring him back to Tyneside in January.
There is the possibility of trying to come to an alternative arrangement with Feyenoord officials and Minteh, but that would require some delicate negotiating given how important the striker has become to his temporary employers.
Howe said: “We can’t recall him. We could possibly come to an agreement with the club and the player, but there’s no clause.”
