DENNIS CIRKIN will have a scan tomorrow after a recurrence of his hamstring issues forced him to miss Sunderland’s 3-1 win over Birmingham City.
Cirkin was due to make his first start since early September at the Stadium of Light this afternoon, having been named in the initial starting line-up to face the Blues.
However, he complained of pain in his hamstrings during the pre-match warm-up, and was withdrawn from the starting XI with his place going to Nectar Triantis.

Cirkin has struggled with hamstring issues for the majority of this season, and will now have another scan to try to investigate the extent of the problem.
Sunderland head coach Tony Mowbray said: “It’s Dennis’ hamstring. He trained yesterday and said he felt it after training, but then he woke up this morning and said it felt fine.
“We just pushed on really, but then he went into the warm-up and said he could feel it again. He’ll go for a scan tomorrow now, and we’ll see how things are.”
