Newcastle United booked their place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup with a brilliant 3-0 victory at Manchester United. Here's how the players rated:
7 Dubravka: Didn’t have much to do but composed throughout and distribution excellent.
9 Livramento: Like Hall on the opposite side of the defence, Livramento took his chance. His brilliance teed up Almiron for the opening goal and set Newcastle on their way to victory.
8 Krafth: Superb return to the side. His first appearance in more than a year but no signs of rustiness. Crucial interception just after half-time to deny Martial.
8 Dummett: Followed his Manchester City display with another brilliant defensive performance. Deserves another appearance that will likely come in the next round.
9 Hall: A night he’ll remember for the rest of his career. Making just his second start for the club he supported as a boy, Hall was brilliant throughout and scored a fine goal.
6 Targett: Nightmare for the defender who was forced off with hamstring injury after three minutes.
8 Longstaff: Wore the armband and led by example. All-action.
9 Joelinton: So powerful in the middle of the park. Dominated. His tackle set Willock away for crucial third goal.
9 Willock: Showed why Howe is so delighted to have him back fit. Full of energy and positivity. Brilliant run and finish for third goal.
7 Ritchie: Worked hard on the right side and linked up well with Livramento.
7 Gordon: Kept Manchester United’s centre-halves busy throughout. Clever movement. His versatility allowed Howe to give Wilson a breather.
Substitutes:
9 Almiron (for Targett, 5): Won’t have expected to be introduced so early but made instant impact and caused United no end of problems. Scored opener.
7 Wilson (for Gordon, 64): Looked bright and fresh from the bench.
7 Bruno (for Willock, 64): At such ease in the middle, helped Newcastle see the game out.
Burn (for Hall, 74): N/A
Trippier (for Ritchie, 74): N/A
Subs not used: Karius, Lascelles, Diallo, Parkinson
Manchester United: Onana 5, Dalot 4 (Wan-Bissaka, 46), Lindelof 5, Maguire 5, Reguilon 5; Casemiro 5 (Amrabat, 46), Hannibal 6 (Fernandes, 65), Mount 5, Garnacho 5 (Rashford, 65), Antony 5, Martial 5 (Hojlund, 65)
