TONY Mowbray has told Jack Clarke to study clips of Thierry Henry when he was at his best at Arsenal as Sunderland's in-form winger looks to add to another element to his game.

Clarke has enjoyed a blistering start to the Championship campaign, with nine goals taking him to the top of the division's charts.

But Mowbray thinks Clarke can get even better by working on one particular attacking aspect.

"I've talked to him about hitting with no backlift," explained Sunderland's head coach.

"If you think of the great Thierry Henry, there's no backlift, they almost pass, bend it into the far corner. Jack is still taking a swing at it, a lot of his shots get blocked. I want him to work on, if you can picture what I'm saying as you're dribbling you almost don't break stride and you finish without a backswing, without winding it up because defenders - and I was one - see the wind up, anticipate the shot, lunge and block. Whereas if Jack is travelling and has no backlift and just passes it into his next stride there's another goal.

"Hopefully we'll see that in the season coming and there'll be lots more of Jack cutting inside, threatening to shoot, another touch then without a backlift he passes it into the far corner."

Sunderland head for Swansea on Saturday looking to build on their impressive victory at Norwich City last time out, and the Black Cats could be boosted by some positive news on the injury front.

Summer signing Adil Aouchiche has been back in training and could return to the squad for this weekend's game, while Aji Alese has also been pictured back on the training pitches this week.

Alese has not yet featured this season and is expected to play for the Under-21s before he makes a first team return.

Eliezer Mayenda could be involved for the first time this weekend. He was expected to be among the substitutes last weekend but felt a slight muscle twinge in training last Friday. Mowbray said the injury was very minor and expected the striker to soon be in contention to play.

Mowbray is expected to continue with Nazariy Rusyn up-front at Swansea after the Ukrainian forward made his first start against Norwich.
