Newcastle United return to action on Saturday when they take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Here are all the details you need to know about this weekend’s game…
WHERE IS THE GAME TAKING PLACE?
Having signed off ahead of the international break with a 2-2 draw at West Ham’s London Stadium, Newcastle return to action as they host Crystal Palace at St James’ Park.
The Magpies have a mixed recent record against the Eagles, with their last six home matches against Palace in all competitions having ended in two wins, two draws and two defeats.
The sides met on Tyneside twice last season, and both games ended in a goalless draw after 90 minutes. The league meeting in September 2022 finished 0-0, and November’s Carabao Cup game between the two sides also ended in a 0-0 draw, with Eddie Howe’s side winning 3-2 on penalties.
WHAT TIME IS KICK-OFF?
Saturday’s game kicks off at the traditional time of 3pm.
ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?
No – all the tickets for Saturday’s game have been sold out, with seats in the home end going to season-ticket holders and members.
Crystal Palace have sold out their full allocation of 1,700 away tickets.
IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?
No – Saturday’s game is not being shown live on domestic television. The highlights will be broadcast as part of Match Of The Day on BBC1 at 10.30pm.
With the game falling in the Saturday 3pm blackout slot, there will also be no domestic streaming available.
Radio coverage of Wednesday’s game will be available on talkSPORT 2 and BBC Radio Newcastle. The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson will be at St James’ Park producing a live blog, report, ratings, analysis and reaction on The Northern Echo’s website.
WHAT IS NEWCASTLE’S LIKELY LINE-UP?
Eddie Howe will be hoping a number of his injured players will have returned to full fitness during the recent international break. Sven Botman, Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Callum Wilson all went into the break nursing injury issues, but there is a chance they could all be available to face Palace.
Joe Willock is a longer-term absentee, but he has an outside chance of being involved at the weekend. Harvey Barnes will remain sidelined for most of the remainder of the year.
Anthony Gordon is available again after serving a one-match suspension during the draw with West Ham, but it remains to be seen whether Sandro Tonali is part of the Newcastle squad.
Tonali is eligible to play despite this week’s developments regarding alleged gambling offences, but given that the midfielder has spent part of the week being questioned in Italy, Howe may decide to leave him out of the equation on Saturday.
Newcastle (probable, 4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
HOW ARE PALACE SHAPING UP?
Crystal Palace went into the international break sitting in ninth place in the Premier League table, a place and a point behind Newcastle.
Roy Hodgson’s side have lost just one of their four league away matches so far this season, and signed off ahead of the break with a goalless home draw with Nottingham Forest.
Like Newcastle, they have been battling against a number of injury issues, and two of their key players – Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise – remain unavailable this weekend.
Cheick Doucoure and Jefferson Lerma could return to the fold though, with Jeffrey Schlupp and Jairo Riedewald expected to be available despite picking up knocks in the draw with Forest.
Crystal Palace (probable, 4-3-3): Johnstone; Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Hughes, Doucoure, Lerma; Ayew, Mateta, Edouard.
