Sunderland slumped to a 4-0 defeat to Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light. Here's how the players rated:
6 Patterson: Wasn't helped by those in front as Boro ran riot in the second half.
6 Huggins: Forced off after just half hour, a blow for the defender after his midweek heroics.
6 Ballard: Solid in the first half, overrun in the second.
5 O’Nien: Fortunate to not concede a penalty in first half. Struggled in the second.
5 Hume: Switched to left after Huggins injury and couldn't get a grip of Jones.
4 Neil: First half sending off gave Sunderland a massive mountain to climb
5 Bellingham: Ineffective. Struggled to get into the game.
5 Ba: Early shot over but quiet after that.
6 Roberts: Came closest to a Sunderland goal with first half run and shot that forced good save from Dieng.
5 Clarke: Sunderland couldn't get their best player into the game. Smith did a good job on him.
5 Burstow: One impressive run on Sunderland counter but otherwise quiet. Replaced at half-time.
