Middlesbrough hammered in four second half goals on their way to their biggest ever win at Sunderland. Here's how the players rated:

8 Dieng: Good save to deny Roberts with his feet when the game was goalless. Second successive clean sheet.

8 Smith: Came in at short notice and did a good job on dangerman Clarke.

8 Fry: Superb in the first half, untroubled in the second.

7 McNair: Kept his cool in the face of Sunderland's press

7 Engel: Built on brilliant Cardiff display with another solid showing. Roberts got the better of him on a couple of occasions but he's one of trickiest wingers in Championship.

7 Barlaser: Assured midfield display. Very tidy in possession.

8 Hackney: Helped set the tone early on as Boro settled in confidently.

9 Jones: Immense in the second half as Boro took advantage after red card.

8 Crooks: Worked hard in the first half, a constant threat early in the second. Deserved his goal.

8 Greenwood: Super finish to set Boro on their way to victory. Memorable return to Stadium of Light.

7 Coburn: Worked hard in the first half with minimal reward. Made his presence felt against Ballard.
