How did the players fare in Middlesbrough’s 2-0 win over Bradford in the Carabao Cup?
BRADFORD (4-4-2):
Lewis 4; Halliday 5, Platt 4, Stubbs 5, Ridehalgh 4 (Kelly 70); Oduor 4 (Wilson 70), Oyegoke 5, Gilliead 5, Afoka 4 (TULLOCH 46, 6); Walker 5 (Pattison 70), Cook 4 (Smith 70).
Subs (not used): Doyle (gk), Smallwood, Osadebe, Pointon.
MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
5 Glover: Had a couple of shaky moments dealing with crosses, most notably when he wiped out McNair, and wasn’t really tested by the Bradford attack
7 Smith: Was able to ease himself back into the starting line-up – delivered some useful crosses from the right
7 Fry: Was hardly going to be flustered by Cook’s physical threat – was always in the right place to deal with any danger
7 McNair: Returned to the starting line-up at centre-half and was able to stroll through most of the game untroubled
7 O’Brien: Has slotted in seamlessly at left-back and got forward to fire in a couple of shots from inside the 18-yard box
8 Barlaser: Relished the amount of time and space he was afforded at the heart of midfield – popped off neat passes all night long
8 HACKNEY: His driving runs forward were a key part of Boro’s attacking play – set up Latte Lath’s opener with a slick through ball
6 Silvera: Displayed plenty of energy breaking forward, even if things didn’t always come off for him as intended
7 Rogers: Flickered in and out of the game in the ‘number ten’ position, but produced a really neat finish for his goal
8 McGree: Carried on in the same impressive vein as Saturday – was a constant threat to the Bradford defence and set up Rogers’ goal
7 Latte Lath: His pace repeatedly troubled Bradford’s defenders and he made a well-timed break for his goal
Subs:
Gilbert (for McGree, 71)
(not used): J Jones (gk), Engel, Lenihan, Coulson, Howson, I Jones, McCabe, Coburn.
Man Of The Match: HAYDEN HACKNEY – The Middlesbrough midfielder was a cut above anyone else on the pitch at the heart of his side’s midfield.
