Middlesbrough's winless start to the season continued as Michael Carrick's side had to settle for a draw at Sheffield Wednesday. Here's how the players rated:
6 Dieng: Quiet night on the whole. Wednesday only had two shots on target
6 Van den Berg: Looked uncomfortable at times in first half at right-back but did well when he moved to the left after the break.
6 Fry: Boro were solid enough at the heart of the defence. Fry was comfortable in possession and carried it out from the back on several occasions.
6 Lenihan: Was busy in the first half because of Engel’s struggles on his side. Scored Boro’s equaliser.
4 Engel: Looked lost in a torrid first half. Valentin had the beating of him every time Wednesday attacked down the right. Engel failed to stop crosses and repeatedly gave the ball away. Hooked at half-time.
6 Hackney: Couldn’t get a grip of the game in the first half. Better and more effective after the break.
6 O’Brien: Looked more comfortable in central role than he did on the left flank at Blackburn.
4 Silvera: Struggled. Let down by poor decision making and final ball throughout. Was a surprise he wasn’t replaced before the 90th minute mark.
5 Crooks: There was no link between midfield and attack in first half. Had goal disallowed in second half.
6 McGree: Surprisingly withdrawn midway through second half when he looked most likely alongside Jones to make something happen.
7 Coburn: Created Boro’s only opening in first half even though he was starved of service for most part. Made a nuisance of himself in the second half.
