Middlesbrough booked their place in the third round of the Carabao Cup thanks to a 3-1 win at Bolton. Here's how the players rated:
6 Glover: Couldn’t keep hold of Sheehan shot for goal and pushed it back into middle of goal for Charles, who couldn’t miss.
7 McNair: Teed up the equaliser for Crooks, tried to get forward as much as possible in the second half.
7 Fry: Couple of shaky moments in the first half but solid on the whole.
7 Lenihan: Largely comfortable throughout.
6 Engel: Unconvincing first half for the left back. Lacked composure in possession. Improved after the break, couple of crucial defensive interceptions.
7 Hackney: Struggled for control in the first half but bossed it in second half.
6 Barlaser: Slow first half but more influential after the break.
6 Forss: Direct and had his moments down the right but struggled to get into the game as much as Boro would have liked.
6 Crooks: Fine finish for the goal but still doesn’t look overly comfortable in the No.10 role.
7 Jones: Built on his bright cameo at West Brom with an encouraging showing on the left. Boro’s brightest.
6 Latte Lath: No real moments of note but bright throughout. Another encouraging display.
