SUNDERLAND will be without Patrick Roberts for at least the next two games after the winger suffered a hamstring string in the win over Rotherham.
Roberts was replaced by Alex Pritchard in the late stages of the 2-1 victory against the Millers, with the Black Cats now confirming the 26-year-old suffered a "minor hamstring strain".
Sunderland said in a club statement: "Following a period of rehabilitation, Roberts is expected to return to action following the September international break."
That means the former Manchester City winger will miss Saturday's trip to Coventry City and the visit of Southampton seven days later. The Black Cats hope Roberts is ready to return for the away game at QPR on Saturday, September 16.
Roberts, who has starred for Sunderland under Tony Mowbray, started the first three games of the Championship season, with his form on Wearside reportedly catching the eye of his former club Celtic, who have been linked with a transfer move for the winger.
