LEE WESTWOOD, Ian Poulter and Patrick Reed are among the star names from the LIV Golf tour that will be competing in the International Series England event at Close House in Northumberland later this month.
The International Series tournament will see nearly half of the LIV Golf roster join some of the leading lights from the Asian Tour to compete in the North-East.
The event, which is the latest high-profile tournament to be staged at Close House, will take place between August 17-20.
Westwood, who is the retained professional at Close House, will be hoping to benefit from home comforts, and is joined on the start list by fellow former Ryder Cup players Poulter and Graeme McDowell.
Reed, a former US Masters champion, is the most high-profile American entrant, with 11 of the 12 teams that make up the LIV Golf League being represented. The likes of Abraham Ancer, Jason Kokrak, Sebastian Munoz, Pat Perez and Brendan Steele are also set to compete.
Featuring golfers from 32 nations across six continents, the diverse 156-strong field also features Andy Ogletree, the 25-year-old who currently leads both the Asian Tour and International Series Orders of Merit.
The American captured his second International Series victory in February 2022 at Doha Golf Club to catapult him to the top of the standings where he has remained despite valiant attempts to unseat him by close rivals Takumi Kanaya, from Japan, and Zimbabwean Kieran Vincent.
Both players have won International Series events in 2023, with Vincent seeking to follow in the footsteps of his big brother Scott. The 31-year-old won the inaugural International Series England in 2022 en route to capturing the number one spot in The International Series Order of Merit, earning him a berth in the LIV Golf League.
Rahul Singh, the head of the International Series, said: “Having such a strong field for this event is a testament to the growing strength of the International Series and the allure of the Lee Westwood Colt Course at Close House.”
This month’s $2m tournament starts with a Pro-Am tournament on August 16, the day before the opening round.
Tickets for all four days of competitive action are currently available via See Tickets, with Thursday and Friday adult tickets priced at £15, and adult tickets for Saturday and Sunday’s play priced at £25. Under-16s will be admitted free on all four days of play.
