MIDDLESBROUGH are continuing with their efforts to make more new signings ahead of the Championship season, but Michael Carrick says he's happy with his squad as things stand.
Boro added six new faces earlier this month, with Seny Dieng, Tom Glover, Rav van den Berg, Alex Gilbert, Sammy Silvera and Morgan Rodgers all joining before Jamie Jones arrived this week, but there are still areas in the squad that need addressing after last season's loan players returned to their parent clubs.
Cameron Archer was the first choice striker in the second half of last season and needs replacing, with Boro looking to sign at least one frontman before the end of the window.
Signing a left-back is also a priority, with Ryan Giles still a target, while Boro may look to add an extra midfield player, with Alex Mowatt - who was a useful squad player last season and provided cover for captain Jonny Howson - having gone back to his parent club West Brom.
The four outfield signings so far have been younger players who, while judged to have huge potential, will be allowed time to settle on Teesside with Boro now understood to be targeting more senior additions.

Carrick previously admitted that was the case but was reluctant to give too much away on Boro's plans after the midweek win at Rotherham.
"Is that what we need? You're telling me, I don't know," said the head coach, when quizzed on Boro's efforts to bring in some more experienced players.
"I'm quite happy. I think we've got a really good squad. We've added to the squad very well.
"As you can see tonight, the boys all showed in glimpses what they're capable of."
Carrick admitted, however, that Boro are continuing with their efforts to bolster the squad ahead of another attempt at a promotion push this season.
He said: "Listen, of course we're looking to improve the squad all the time, I said that in January and I'll say it again now. We're looking to try and improve the squad. Whether it's before the start of the season or before the window closes, we're looking and the work never stops."
