THE LIONESSES will return to the North-East in September to play a Women’s Nations League game in Sunderland.

England Women will take on Scotland in their opening game of the inaugural women’s tournament at the Stadium of Light on Friday, September 22 (7.45pm).

It will be the reigning European champions’ first return to Wearside since they last played at Sunderland’s home ground in November 2021, when Ellen White’s goal secured a 1-0 win over Austria.

September’s meeting with Scotland will also mark Sarina Wiegman’s side’s first outing after the Women’s World Cup, which begins in Australia and New Zealand this week.
