MARCUS FORSS scored the only goal of the game as Middlesbrough beat Vitoria Guimaraes in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their training base on the Algarve.
Forss found the target as Boro claimed a 1-0 win over a Vitoria side that will compete in the Europa League next season.
Michael Carrick made a number of changes as he gave a large number of his players a run-out in their first game of pre-season.

Alex Gilbert made his first appearance in a Boro shirt following his move from Brentford, with Rav van den Berg, who has moved to Teesside from PSV Eindhoven, and Sammy Silvera, who has joined from Australian side Central Coast Mariners, also coming in as substitutes in the closing stages of the game.
Boro's squad will return to England in the next 24 hours before resuming training at Rockliffe Park next week.
They play their first public pre-season game on Friday evening when they take on Hartlepool United at the Suit Direct Stadium, and also head to York City's LNER Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
