ETHAN MOORE has become the latest of Sunderland's youngsters to sign a new contract with the club.

Moore, an 18-year-old winger, has extended his stay at the Academy of Light until the summer of 2024, with the Black Cats having the option of extending the deal by a further 12 months.

The teenager has made 43 appearances across various age groups within Sunderland's academy, scoring nine goals and claiming eight assists. He has made six Premier League 2 appearances and also played in two games in the FA Youth Cup.

He was part of the side that saw the Under-18s finish as runners-up in the Under-18s Premier League North, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City.

Sunderland academy manager, Robin Nicholls, said: "Ethan’s final season as a scholar saw him make significant contributions to a Under-18 team that finished second in the Under-18 Premier League North.

"Although injury curtailed the season early for him, the pace and power that he displayed for the majority of the campaign leaves us excited about the potential pathway for him here at the club. We are delighted that he has signed his first professional contract here at SAFC."
