FORMER Middlesbrough winger Viktor Fischer has been forced to retire from football at the age of just 29.
Fischer, whose spent the second half of last season on loan at Swedish club AIK Solna from his parent side Royal Antwerp, has been suffering from a succession of injury issues.
As a result, he has been forced to call time on his playing career, with Antwerp releasing a statement confirming his retirement this morning.

The Dane began his career with Ajax, and joined Middlesbrough for a reported fee of £3.8m in the summer of 2016.
However, his time on Teesside did not go to plan as he made just nine starts and a further seven substitute appearances in all competitions, failing to score a single goal.
He left England after just one year, moving to Mainz, and also played for FC Copenhagen before joining Royal Antwerp in the summer of 2021.
