WITH Newcastle United’s season now over, thoughts are turning to the summer and the start of the club’s pre-season schedule.
Who are the Magpies playing this summer? Where are the games taking place? And how can supporters get tickets for the games?
Saturday, July 15
Gateshead vs Newcastle - 12.30pm
Newcastle will kick off their pre-season campaign against near-neighbours Gateshead.
The hosts, managed by former Magpies favourite Mike Williamson, enjoyed a trip to Wembley in the FA Trophy last season, although they were beaten 1-0 by FC Halifax Town at the National Stadium. They finished in 14th place in the National League.
Tickets for the game have sold out.
Tuesday, July 18
Rangers vs Newcastle United (7.45pm)
Newcastle’s first game of pre-season sees them take on Scottish giants Rangers at Ibrox.
The game is a testimonial match in honour of Gers goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who has made more than 500 senior appearances for the Scottish Premier League side.
Newcastle have received an allocation of 8,000 tickets for the game, with tickets currently on sale to season-ticket holders with 20 points or more. The tickets are priced £25 for adults, £20 for Over-65s and 16/17-year-olds and £10 for Under-16s.
Sunday, July 23
Newcastle United v Aston Villa (7pm local time in US)
After taking on Rangers, Newcastle’s players and staff head to the United States to compete in the inaugural Premier League Summer Series.
The Magpies’ first game in the six-team tournament will see them face Aston Villa at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team. The game kicks off at 7pm local time, and follows straight after an earlier game between Fulham and Brentford.
Tickets are on general sale now, but are being sold via the Ticketmaster site rather than through Newcastle United.
Wednesday, July 26
Newcastle United v Chelsea (8.15pm local time in US)
Newcastle’s second game of the Premier League Summer Series sees them leave Philadelphia and head to Atlanta to take on Chelsea, who they met on the final day of the season last month.
The Magpies’ game with the Blues will take place at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and will see Miguel Almiron return to his former home, where he played for Atlanta United prior to moving to St James’ Park.
As is the case with all of Newcastle’s games in the US, tickets are on general sale now and are available from Ticketmaster rather than through Newcastle United.
Friday, July 28
Newcastle United v Brighton (7.30pm local time in US)
Newcastle’s third and final Premier League Summer Series game sees them take on Brighton in New Jersey.
The game with the Seagulls is taking place at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, which is the home of Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls. With a capacity of 25,000, it is the sixth-largest soccer-specific stadium in the US.
As is the case with all of Newcastle’s games in the US, tickets are on general sale now and are available from Ticketmaster rather than through Newcastle United.
