SEAN LONGSTAFF is hoping to recreate the memories of some of his cherished DVDs when Newcastle United return to the Champions League next season.
Longstaff was a boyhood Magpies fan when the club last played in European football’s premier competition under Sir Bobby Robson in the 2002-03 season.
They will return to the Champions League in the autumn after this evening’s goalless draw with Leicester City guaranteed them a top-four finish, and Longstaff cannot wait to experience another huge European night at St James’ Park.
He said: “I can’t put it into words to be honest. If you told us two years ago this was going to happen, we wouldn't have believed you.
“We've beaten Juventus here 1-0 (in the Champions League), you see it on old DVDs. To be a part of this, I'm buzzing to be fair.”

Kieran Trippier played in the Champions League during his time with Tottenham, but the full-back readily admits a return to European football’s top table was the furthest thing in his mind when he agreed to move to Tyneside a year-and-a-half ago.
Trippier said: “It means everything. I took a risk when I first arrived, but I always believed in every decision I made.
“We've bounced back well, we've recovered well. The club has been through a tough moment but now we're reaping the rewards.”
