7 Steffen: Raced off line to beat Gyokeres to loose ball early on. Beaten to ball by Gyokeres for goal but forced striker wide and could do nothing about brilliant finish.
5 Smith: Bailed out by Steffen after early mistake. Booked early on and struggled to settle.
6 McNair: Gyokeres had the better of McNair this time but that was more to do with excellence of striker rather than anything the Boro defender did wrong.
6 Lenihan: Made some crucial challenges and headers. Wasn’t helped by some sloppy passing in front.
6 Giles: Boro’s best player in the first half. Good early cross deserved finishing touch and brilliant late tackle on Allen. But sloppy second half pass led to Coventry goal.
5 Hackney: Brilliant on Sunday in the first leg but Coventry added an extra midfielder and he couldn’t get into the game.
5 Mowatt: Crowded out in midfield. Sloppy and struggled.
6 Forss: Bright start with shot after 13 seconds. Another effort blocked late in first half. Boro’s brightest attacker.
5 Akpom: Coventry’s extra man in midfield allowed them to cover space Akpom usually flourishes in. Desperately tried to make something happen but didn’t drop for him.
5 McGree: Tried to pick the lock of the Coventry defence but Boro didn’t get him into the game as much as they’d have liked.
5 Archer: Frustrating night for the striker. Had the ball in the net late on and hit the bar but offside flag was up for both.
Substitutes:
5 Jones (for Forss, 66): Sloppy from the bench as Boro looked for spark.
6 Barlaser (for Mowatt, 66): Looked to get foot on ball
6 Dijksteel (for Smith, 66): Tried to get forward in support of Jones as Boro looked for leveller.
Crooks (for McNair, 88): N/A
Subs not used: Roberts, Crooks, Fry
Coventry: Wilson 7, McNally 7, McFadzean 8 (Panzo, 85), Doyle 8; Norton-Cuffy 7 (Dabo, 79), HAMER 9, Kelly 7, Sheaf 8 (Eccles, 70), Bidwell 7, Allen 8 (Godden 80), Gyokeres 8

Man of the Match: GYOKERES. Led the line superbly for Coventry. Put himself about in first half, made the goal and stretched Boro late on.
