WEST Brom boss Carlos Corberan will let the dust settle on the Championship season before he makes a decision on the future of Middlesbrough loanee Alex Mowatt.

Mowatt left the Baggies for Boro on loan last summer when Valérien Ismaël was in charge of Albion and Chris Wilder was the boss at the Riverside.

He was a bit-part player in the early months of Michael Carrick's tenure but has been vital in the final weeks of the campaign after Boro were hit with several injuries and, if captain Jonny Howson isn't fit to return, Mowatt is likely to start in the play-offs.

The former Barnsley midfielder will enter the final year of his contract at the Hawthorns this summer, but it's not yet clear what his future looks like.

Baggies boss Corberan is planning talks with Mowatt as well as Cedric Kipre, who has spent the season on loan at Cardiff City.

“I will do this assessment at the end of the season when there are no games in the middle so I can look in detail,” said Corberan.

“It’s true that I know him (Kipre). When I was preparing for the game against Cardiff, I was watching him. I know the minutes, I know when he plays, and I know when he doesn’t.

“He scored the goal at Rotherham and that’s the most important thing that we can talk about, that he scored, no other aspect. The most important thing for me is what he is doing in the pitch. When you have one player on loan and he is doing well, you are happy.

“The same with Mowatt – Mowatt has been playing for Middlesbrough in the last games, he has been involved and this is very positive for him to grow. The moment to evaluate them, and the possibilities of them in our club, is at the end of the season. That is not the holiday time, that is the time to make evaluations of aspects of next season.”

Meanwhile, Boro striker Matthew Hoppe scored for Hibs in a behind closed doors game against Newcastle this week.

The friendly was described as a development squad game but Hibs included several senior first team players in their squad, including Hoppe. Newcastle won 3-1.

Hoppe has only started three games since joining Hibs on loan, scoring one goal and adding two assists. He's due to return to Boro in the summer.

Hibs are currently fifth in the Scottish Premiership, six points behind Aberdeen, who last week confirmed former Boro midfielder Barry Robson as their permanent boss.

Robson was initially employed on an interim basis but got the job full-time after a run of seven straight wins. Steve Agnew will continue as his assistant.

Robson and Agnew could find themselves going up against Chris Wilder next season, with the former Boro boss favourite to take charge of Hearts.

Wilder's time in charge of Watford has come to an end, with the Hornets this morning confirming the appointment of former West Brom and Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael.

Wilder won three, drew three and lost five of his 11 games in charge

On the appointment of Ismael, Watford technical director Ben Manga said: "Being able to appoint a new coach so soon in May means we can prepare very well together for next season.

"To be able to welcome someone of Valerien's experience to Watford is good news for our club. We are all looking forward to working with him."
