Newcastle United return to action when they take on Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Here are all the details you need to know about the game…

WHERE IS THE GAME TAKING PLACE?

Having strengthened their grip on third position with a win at Everton on Thursday, Newcastle United return to home soil when they take on Southampton at St James’ Park on Sunday.

This is the fourth meeting between the teams this season, with Newcastle having beaten the Saints in a two-legged semi-final to secure a place in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. The league game at St Mary’s in November saw the Magpies win 4-1 thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood, Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes.

Southampton have a dreadful away record at Newcastle, having won just one of their last 19 matches at St James’ Park in all competitions.

WHAT TIME IS KICK-OFF?

Sunday’s game kicks off at 2pm.

ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?

No – Sunday’s game is a complete sell-out, with Southampton bringing a reduced allocation of around 1,700 travelling fans to Tyneside.

All the tickets for the home sections at St James’ Park have been sold.

IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?

Sunday’s game is not being televised in the UK, and there are also no domestic streaming options available.

Radio commentary will be available on BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Five Live, and The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson will be at St James’ Park providing a live blog, report, ratings, reaction and analysis on The Northern Echo’s website.

WHAT IS NEWCASTLE’S LIKELY LINE-UP?

Allan Saint-Maximin remains unavailable because of a hamstring injury, with the Frenchman also already a doubt for the following weekend’s game with Arsenal.

Sean Longstaff and Joelinton both picked up knocks in Thursday’s win at Everton, and the pair will be assessed in the build-up to Sunday’s game.

Longstaff suffered a knock that required treatment in the first half at Goodison Park, and while he initially continued playing, he was eventually forced to admit defeat and was substituted in the 74th minute.

Joelinton was complaining of a sore hamstring before the game, but while the problem reappeared, the Brazilian was able to make it to the final whistle.

Dan Burn was only a substitute against Everton because he had been suffering from an illness in the build-up to the game, but he should be back in the frame for a starting spot against Southampton.

Newcastle (probable, 4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Guimaraes, Longstaff, Willock; Murphy, Isak, Joelinton.

HOW ARE SOUTHAMPTON SHAPING UP?

Southampton’s problems at the foot of the table worsened as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Thursday evening.

The Saints have not won in eight games, and find themselves six points adrift of safety with just five more games to play.

Southampton are set to be without the injured Mohamed Salisu, Romain Perraud and Juan Larios at the weekend, with Tino Livramento and Armel Bella-Kotchap also doubtful.

There are also pre-match worries over midfielder James Ward-Prowse, with the England international having been forced off at the half-time interval of Thursday’s defeat because of an illness.

Southampton (probable, 4-4-2): McCarthy; Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Caleta-Car, Maitland-Niles; Elyounoussi, Ward-Prowse, Lavia, Armstrong; Walcott, Adams.
